Maximise the benefits of your solar array by:
Storing excess electricity in a battery
Increasing your bill savings
Reducing your reliance on the grid
Lowering your carbon footprint
The Battery Revolution
In the past two years, we've seen a dramatic shift in how homeowners approach solar energy. Previously, only 10% of our new solar installations included a solar battery. Now, that number has skyrocketed to nearly 85%. This surge reflects the growing awareness of the benefits that solar batteries offer, especially in light of rising electricity costs.
Instead of selling excess solar energy back to the grid at a lower rate, more people are choosing to store this energy for personal use. Why sell a kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity for 15p when you can store it in your battery and save 34p on your electricity bill? With a solar battery, you can maximise your savings by using the solar energy you generate on-site, reducing your reliance on the grid and shielding yourself from fluctuating energy prices.
“EnergyMyWay did a terrific job for us. They were flexible finding for the optimum layout of the panels on our roof to give the best result. They worked on schedule and the installation team were a pleasure to work with. I am very happy with the PV and battery system they provided. Excellent all round.”

Tailored Solutions for Optimal Performance
Every solar system we design and install is carefully modelled to determine whether a battery is a worthwhile investment for your setup. If a battery makes sense for you, we'll calculate the optimal battery size to ensure you get the best performance and return on investment. Our team collaborates with leading battery manufacturers, including Fox, GivEnergy, SolaX, PureDrive and SolarEdge, to offer you a range of options that cater to your specific needs. Whether you're looking for a small battery to supplement your solar system or a larger capacity to cover most of your energy usage, we'll help you find the right solution.
Full System Monitoring
With our systems, you won't be left in the dark when it comes to your energy production and storage. You'll have the ability to monitor the performance of your battery through a dedicated app, accessible on your phone. This real-time and historical performance data gives you insights into your energy usage patterns, helping you make informed decisions about how to manage your power.
Our team will set up your PV and battery system on your smartphone, so you can start monitoring right away. The image below, taken from the SolarEdge monitoring platform—one of our most popular inverter and battery manufacturers—shows what you can expect. Regardless of the type of system you choose, you’ll have access to similar monitoring features through their respective apps.
Additionally, online monitoring allows us to remotely diagnose any issues that may arise, ensuring that your system operates smoothly without unnecessary delays.
Getting the right solution
Choosing the right battery isn’t just about capacity; it’s also about ensuring it integrates seamlessly with your home and lifestyle. We take a holistic approach to determine the ideal size for your battery, considering factors such as your energy consumption, solar array size and available installation space.
The physical placement of your battery is also crucial. Due to their weight and size, a detailed pre-installation technical survey by one of our engineers is essential. We’ll work closely with you to find a suitable location—whether inside your home, in a garage, or even mounted on an external wall—so that your solar storage system is both effective and unobtrusive.
A Seamless Addition to Your Property
With solar batteries spanning no more than 2m in height and just over 1m in width, they’re an easy addition to your solar PV setup that won’t be an eyesore to your property. You’ll need somewhere to locate the battery and system but, in most properties, this is easy to accommodate, such as on a spare wall in a shed, garage or an external wall of the house.
“Ours was a complicated installation that needed some thought. The EnergyMyWay guys were tenacious, thorough and pragmatic. We would recommend EnergyMyWay for quality, commitment and value.”

Making the most of your battery
Some of the latest energy tariffs, from suppliers such as Octopus Energy, enable you to charge your battery on a cheap overnight tariff, then use that electricity during the more expensive daytime rates. Clients tell us that they use this during the winter months when there is less excess electricity being generated by their solar array. Our after sales service includes setting up any overnight tariff charging for you.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Adding a solar battery to your solar PV system allows you to store excess energy generated during the day for use during the evening or on cloudier days, reducing your reliance on the grid. This maximises your savings by enabling you to use more of the energy you produce, protects you from rising electricity costs, and provides back-up power during outages. Additionally, with certain energy tariffs, you can charge your battery at a lower cost during off-peak hours and use that stored energy during peak times, further increasing your savings.
-
The lifespan of a solar battery depends on the type and usage patterns, but most modern lithium-ion batteries last between 10 to 15 years. Regular maintenance and optimal usage can help extend the life of your battery beyond the warranty period.
-
The ideal battery size depends on several factors, including your energy consumption patterns, the size of your solar array, and your goals, whether that’s maximising self-consumption or having backup power. During our survey process, we’ll assess your energy needs and model various scenarios to determine the optimal battery size for your system. This ensures that your battery is large enough to meet your needs without unnecessary oversizing, which could increase costs.
-
Yes, you can add a battery to an existing solar system. Some homeowners choose to start with solar panels and add a battery later as their energy needs evolve or as battery technology improves. Our team can assess your current system and recommend a compatible battery solution that integrates seamlessly with your existing setup. Whether you're upgrading an older system or expanding your solar capabilities, we can help you find the right battery for your needs.
